Fallout: Dossiers Recap
Saw Miss Tanaka while I tended Bar today, but had a most unfortunate mishap: Guppy's son, Fry, found Yugo's dossier and mimicked it, using me as the subject. Guppy panicked, took his children, and bolted. His reaction was unexpected, but I'm fairly certain that any fallout can be easily contained.
---
Okay, in retrospect, I believe Guppy may call Security. This might become an issue.
---
Obtained my stage makeup today to speak with Guppy. My glasses are intact, but I have one newly chipped tooth. Unfortunately, my hunch about his calling Security was correct, and I ran into my first officer of the bar: Gene, who Fry had mentioned in his dossier. I haven't done anything wrong, and I'm fairly certain he won't be able to justify arresting me using the three rules system despite his bluster. I'll keep my eyes open, though, should he come after me again.
I have to note that Gene never asked to see the dossier. His confrontational tone is as repugnant as his smoking habit, and he disapproves of anyone interested in academia. I bet he'd be horrified to learn that I see a bit of myself in him--particularly in the way he questions people. Given that that was part of my alleged wrong-doing, I found it deliciously meta.
Now to find Guppy and finish clearing this up.
---
Note: Gene posted a notice in the Security office. Don't be surprised when other people come sniffing around.
---
Found and spoke with Guppy. He is terrified by the fact that I write things down. Really? Doesn't everyone keep a diary? Apparently it's a criminal offense where he comes from. Good thing I'm not there. He also offered some "warnings" and "advice" re: not pissing off the wrong people. Duly noted.
Eventually--and unexpectedly--he apologized (note: "we both got all hot and bothered" ... emphasis mine, because seriously?). He seemed to want to reconcile which surprises me, but he doesn't trust me. Which is fine; I never asked him to. The only thing that unnerves me about all of this is that he keeps assuming that I'm a threat to his children, when there is absolutely no supporting evidence for that.
---
Charles caught me as I was leaving, telling me that, "people here remember and Guppy is well-liked." What the hell? Apparently he'd not only spoken with Guppy, but Gene as well! It pisses me off not only because he's violating my privacy, which started this whole damn thing, but he claims to have worked out his "differences with people without the need of Security, because here [he] can be honest." Oh, yes, I bet you can.
Out of all the people here, Charles is the biggest threat to me due to not only his telepathy, but his unasked for and misplaced concern about my welfare. This situation is unraveling quicker than I expected. I can't leave and I can't sleep, and my face hurts. Should I keep the bruises or get them treated?
---
I spoke with Rae today. Told her everything. Fairly certain she hates me now, which isfair her right. I am okay with this.
---
Yugo isn't dead! His bloody, stupid Phantom and the bloody, stupid eclipse can go hang themselves. Thank God.
---
Watched a movie with Rabastan. I don't remember the ending. I might have fallen asleep on the couch, which wouldn't surprise me.
---
There was a giant teleporting chicken on the bar today. It knew my name. We talked about fever dreams and the ability to manipulate the perceptions of other people in order to shape a story for yourself.
I... may have hallucinated that entire conversation.
---
Mia treated my face and let me sleep next to her in a booth last night. I'm still tired, obviously, but at least my rational thought pattern has returned to its former ease. I've run into a lot of people during the course of this. As far as I can recall, she was the first not to ask what happened.
---
Picked up some more Kenet, and have been slathering it on my hands just in case I need to burn my journal on the spot. I've been planning to give some of the ointment to Rae for a while but... I may have to leave it with Bar for her anonymously.
---
Today was fairly ridiculous. I spoke a bit with Yugo about his new plans for not-dying. Interestingly, Guppy split a Fried Paradox with me. Apparently good will tastes like spargel. After that, I was approached by three Security officers: Mel, Teja, and Molly--a demon hunter, the third Ostrogoth king (yes, really! that one!), and a mutant who is overly fond of milkshakes.
So, I'm right. I mean, I always knew I was right. And it's not like I needed other people to know I was right. They're just off my back for the moment.
I don't know what to do now. Maybe sleep.
