Demon Bunny Breeding Experiments
After many months of experimentation (and some severe burns), I've decided that taming the demon bunnies is fruitless, and that they taste terrible. Thankfully, Bar has graciously supplied me with tranquilizer powders and foods that the bunnies approve of. Perhaps I can catch and breed them...
Day 0 - Tagging them with a catch and release program is proving incredibly useful! I've made a basic map of their burrows and have tracked the movements of the ones I've tagged.
Day 1 - Constructed a basic warren in the abandoned baseball field. Brought a container of Kenet, salve, Healing Herbs, and two baggy outfits. Knocked out and transferred the first batch of bunnies.
Day 2 - They burned the warren to the ground; as it was made of wood and wire, I should have foreseen this. Suffered from severe burns despite use of Kenet outfit, and several bite marks in the escape. Searching for different construction materials.
Day 4 - Built a new warren out of steel. The forest bunnies have stopped consuming certain soporifics. All at once. As previously observed, they're clearly communicating with one another--and they are intelligent enough to be wary of me. I suspect it's only a matter of time before they start attacking on sight.
Day 5 - They escaped again, melting straight through the wall and destroying the warren. Time to start with a fresh batch, if I can.
Day 10 - Concrete pavers fireproofed with hydrated lime has proven successful in holding them, so far, though this warren took two attempts to construct. I should have asked Bar about materials to start with, good heavens.
Day 11 - Attempted to move Doe #2 to Buck #2's cage. Suffered bites to my hands and subsequent burns when Doe #2 woke earlier than I expected. I think they're metabolizing the soporifics and waiting for me to think they're asleep.
Day 14 - Asked Bar for an aerosol knock-out gas. It works much better than the oral ones.
Day 20 - Note: Running low on supplies. Healing Herbs, Kenet, food, stronger tranquilizers... find better gloves.
Day 29 - They hate me. I can tell. Thankfully, they can neither burn nor bite through the walls, though they hiss resentfully when I feed them. One has starved itself to death. I'm not sure how I should feel about that.
Day 37 - Removed bucks from does' cages; Buck #2 woke up and took a chunk out of my calf when it ran. Thank goodness for Passion Fruits, but I'll need to try to stay off of it for the next couple of days. Note: Stock up on supplies again, prepare to work in bar on my tab.
Day 41 - IT WORKED! Ten births, two deaths. Doe #1 did not produce. The remaining kits "cheep" like baby birds and are viciously cute. Miss Tanaka would love them.
Day 43 - I'll be leaving for Lucas' world soon. As I don't know if I'll return, I'll need to let them loose. I'm not looking forward to it; I can tell they're plotting against me. Buck #1 escaped last night, and when I checked on the kits this morning, I heard hissing from behind me each time I looked away.
Day 48 - I took Sunshine to see them today. She seemed exasperated with everything.
Day 49 - They're gone. The warren was left intact, but the foliage was scorched to the ground in a three meter radius around it, and there were bunny leavings out front in a pile half as tall as I am. The hissing was so loud I could barely hear, so I bolted.
