Milliways Dossier: Bones McCoy

Threads: (x)

History

  • Treated me after the zombie attacks - found my bruise paste tests, augh
  • Has an absolutely terrifying gleeful expression when he gets his way
  • Has a rather distinctive drawl
  • A medical officer on board a Federation starship

Impressions

  • Threat Level: LOW - Bones is more useful than threatening, though he's not afraid to argue with me
  • Used a strange aerosol sprayer for... pain medication, perhaps?
  • Rather efficient
  • Strapped all sorts of things to my arms - which made me feel fabulous, unfortunately
  • Didn't want to let me go after treating me without a Talk, honestly!
  • "We try to get to know our patients in my time - it helps me make sure I know what is needed, and provide a more holistic approach to care"
  • Told me I would have perished of anemia shortly
  • Respects patient confidentiality - "I do not report to anyone, and my records are kept in my own personal lockbox, here in Milliways"
  • Handed me guidelines on acceptable meals
  • His coffee maker ended up on the ceiling because of an argument with his girlfriend? What?
  • Has a grade-schooler - most important part of his life
  • "Are you then going to tell me is it's okay to cause distress in fellow patrons - even if we only count your friends - because you refuse to be treated for the treatable and will force others to see your pain?"
  • Argued against allowing injuries to the self to persist
  • "For example, I too believe it is fundamentally inhumane to cause suffering where it could have been avoided - by action or inaction. You telling me that I should not offer, and even urge an injured patron to seek help when they are in fact injured or ill is in fact stating that I do not have the right to stand for my own beliefs, and that mine must bend - doesn't that cause harm?"
  • Brought up Oswin in this argument - would I have left her if she wanted to die?
  • An alternative: "The need to improve the welfare of others, for the sake of belief in a minimum standard of welfare"

Weaknesses

  • His grade-schooler, but why would you want to use them?
  • Other people in pain who refuse to treat themselves

Scabs

  • What were the things he placed on my arms? And what was that spray?
  • How did he get to go into the stars?
  • What year is it for him?
  • Who is his girlfriend?

Opportunities

  • Oh, so many! He could teach me far more than first aid, and explain his level of technology
