Because She Would Ask Me Why I Love Her, Part III

[ Part I | Part II | Part III | Part IV | Part V ]

She smushed frozen yogurt into my face! Haha!

Okay, so here's what happened: I broke my arm because I was stupid and flew while completely exhausted. Guppy fixed it with the bone fuser, so I was still sore, and trying to eat frozen yogurt with my left hand. I must have looked really pitiful, because she actually fed me. Shiva wept, I was so nervous!

She's going to try to get a license to hunt youmu. I hope that goes well for her. And I told her about the ritual of purification and sharpening. She knows more about me than most people, which should be frightening, but it isn't. We talked about Tahno-san, a waterbender who has been helping her practice--and they're going to push her to a state of anemia. I wish she didn't have to do that, but I can see how knowing her limits would be useful.

She told me, "If you don't want to worry others, don't do worrying things," and gosh, she's right. It was adorable the way she said it, too. I told her I'd make her some udon, and she accepted that after some deliberation. I also asked her about talking to Mia about her corrosive blood, which she also accepted.

But I don't know if I'm going to give the locket to her at all, because she said this: "I don't want to presume, either. That... what you feel is your business until you're ready to say so otherwise, right?" And I have a strong feeling that she doesn't want my businesss to become her business yet, if ever. So I'll try to be satisfied with being friends. She doesn't owe me a relationship. It hurts, but I'll... get over it.

And then I hit her with a terrible pun, and she threatened to dump yogurt on my face. I hit her with another one, and she actually ordered the yogurt and smushed it into my mouth, haha! I didn't think she'd do it, but Miss Kuriyama is a fundamentally honest person, and I admire her follow through. It's going to be fun being just friends with her, I can tell.

---

I met Tahno-san, who educated me in how to give a pick-up line. He called me Flower Kid! He's a sleazeball, and other than his helping her with her practices and feeding afterwards, I don't know why they're friends.

But she can be friends with whomever she likes, and it's not my business. Speaking of not my business, I realize now that she doesn't want me, and I've decided that I have to let her go. I asked Rae, Jay, and Bonnie about what love was, and realized that I do love her, but that's not what she wants. So.

I managed to put my foot in my mouth when I spoke with Tahno by worrying about her too much. Tahno is right in that I haven't been trusting her to take care of herself. Damn it. I hope I don't mess up being her friend.

We studied for her youmu hunting license exam in her room, and it wasn't near as awkward as I thought it would be! Her world is fascinating.

We also ate the udon that I made, and she seemed to like it. She split the third bowl of udon with me, which was kind of her. I've been so hungry now that I'm actually eating all the time. It doesn't make sense.

But she is leaving soon, to go see what the Nase clan wants with her. Good luck, Miss Kuriyama! She asked about my Spinning, oh my gosh, and then we spoke of friendships. I also learned that her birthday is March 31st, and I know just what to get her...

---

I decided to research love, reasoning that I need to figure out what love is in order to fall out of love, and I was foolish enough to do so in the bar. You'd think that reading on a couch would be a universal sign of don't bother me, but no.

The monk Athelstan surprised me by taking an interest. Then I explained the chemistry of love to both Joly and Bossuet. Yugo arrived with my flowers, and was as perceptive as ever. Jay was rather sympathetic, bless him. Enzo informed me that The Princess Bride is actually a movie! Huh! Noriko showed up and took it upon herself to give me some advice, weirdly enough, and I was even approached by two strangers: a soldier by the name of Tavi, and a female reporter who ate my dumplings!

Then Emcee came, and gave me some marvelous advice: stay patient, be aware of how my feelings might affect my patience, and give her time for the possibility to present itself. He is a peach.

After that, the Fool came and just about ruined everything. We spoke on Miss Kuriyama, and he deemed her a shrimp after I said she was small and pink. Then he called her name, and brought her over! He told me he didn't think she was good enough for me--what nonsense--but unfortunately she took it to heart and fled up the stairs after a brief conversation. I pursued, and spoke through her door to her, trying to reassure her. I think she may try to hurt herself. I am in over my head.
