Stories upon Stories
I'm right! I'm right! My hypothesis was right on the mark!
Drosselmeyer has trapped me in a strange place called Milliways, a seedy tavern with a window that opens into the end of all things. Here I met Wagner's Lohengrin, who is the spitting image of Fakir. Not only is Fakir a descendant of Drosselmeyer, he's clearly the reincarnation of the Knight of the Swan!
There has to be a Prince Siegfried around here somewhere, as well. And if there's a prince, then that must mean... The Raven is real.
---
Chatted with MA of Milliways today and gave away entirely too much.

Lately I've been tracking through Drosselmeyer's family tree, a necessary habit of mine. Of course I've found yet another person who laid waste to a section of the city or themselves. The historical records are easy to find in the library; all you need to know are the names and you'll see the pattern of men and women who ended up barking mad. Bad events just seem to "happen" around these people, some say. Tch.
It's making me wonder if Goldkrone has had to be started over and over again. What happened to the first draft of town, as it were? Are conditions now perfect for the real Story to move, or is this the first time the Story has broken from its cyclical nature?
Clearly my ancestor's power to rewrite reality is not something to be taken lightly. As both history and the present demonstrate, it's easy to write chaos as a Spinner.

I'm right again. 4A is a direct descendant. Scheisse.

Met a woman named Sne today. She's interminably covered in flour and has a talent for alliteration. She showed me how to make a croissant.
---
Made a breakthrough in my research regarding Drosselmeyer’s control of the town, and I couldn’t be happier! Explaining it all here would be foolishness, as the axe keepers have me in their sights, but suffice it to say that Ne

Almost bumped into subject 4A on purpose today, but rethought the impulse. He’s not ready to enter my world yet.
And of course, DU was trailing after him like a duck after its mother. She has the most vexing voice I’ve ever heard. Her ribcage is so small; where does she find the air for all that volume?
---
4A showed up at Milliways today! I toyed with him, but as expected, he didn't recognize me. Interestingly, he did pause when I mentioned that a little bird told me his name.
---
4A has finally found his way to the library. Took him long enough. He knows so little about himself and this town, I’d be surprised if he even knew Drosselmeyer’s name! Pathetic.
And there’s DU, right on schedule. Honestly. I don’t know why he keeps her around. Out of all of the girls on Goldkrone's campus, she has to be the most annoying.
---
Explained my research to R4 today, and the purpose behind it, due to the fallout surrounding the dossiers.
She hates me now

4A returned to the bar today, reading Boeve de Hamtoune. I'm highly amused that I managed to get him to drink Drosselmeyer's tea.
I am amazed, however, that DU also came to Milliways at the same time. She is his tag-a-long, true, but she knows something about crow's feathers. I can't tell if her capacity to babble and yet say nothing at the same time is a talent or desperate desire to fill the void.
---
This waiting is interminable. I knew 4A was dense, but I thought he’d spend more time reading and less time banging his head against the desk.
And then he has to drag DU along with him, with her screeching and hand-waving and trivial concerns about hearts and princes and other girly things.
I hate her so much.
---
Good news! 4A entered Milliways again! He struck his friend a second time, of course, so his temper was flaring, but that's nothing new. I offered him Perceval and another untitled book to give him a warning about knights and Story, but who knows if it sunk into his thick head.
DU followed, just as I suspected she would. It is some sort of cosmic joke that she is a ballerina; she is the clumsiest child I've ever seen--And yet! made me stumble over my own tongue, and caught me out in a lie. She's trouble, make no mistake.
---
Subject 4A should start to put things together now. I had to basically shove a three-pound tome under his nose as an invitation.
But now, my waiting and research will finally have paid off. Will he take the plunge? Does he have the spine to be a spinner of Stories? I doubt it. But either way, it will be interesting, I’m sure.
Of course I’d like to have a companion who understands what I do, even though I know that’s just a silly fantasy. His skull’s as thick as a boulder.
But if he does take my offer, I’ll get to keep DU out of the way during his training. Mere words cannot express my glee, but this composition I’m working on might. So far I’ve written twelve angry cymbal crashes followed by an hour of silence, and I think it suits her quite nicely.
