Autor's Milliscout Badges To Try For

Autor will try for the following badges:

  • Art Badge - Produce art using three different mediums, name three genres, and make a greeting card, calendar, or wooden frame.
  • Cat Friend Badge - Know at least two games or tricks to do with the cat (pinecone with ribbon, catnip crumpled up in paper with a string around it), explain to the tester how to feed and look after an adult cat and a kitten, (feed it, pet it, take it to a bed, clean out its litterbox) and what equipment would be needed (food and a bed and a litterbox). Find out how much it costs per month to keep a cat in the currency of your world. (4.19 Marks) Tell the tester how to tell three signs that a cat is unwell (dilated pupils, head tilting, excessive discharges from the nose or eyes). Present to Bonnie
  • Blushing Badge - Make 2/5/7 people blush without damaging them.
  • Bricklayer/Cubefall - Make a working or lifelike item from a construction toy e.g. Lego. Construct a fort out of construction toys, or cardboard boxes. Have a meal or snack in your fort.
  • Badge Overenthusiasm Badge - Complete ten badges. You can not have set more than two of them yourself. Set at least one badge for others to complete. Work on two badges at the same time.
  • Badge Underenthusiasm Badge - Pick a badge and do the most spectacularly crap job of it that you can, while still filling all the badge criteria.
  • Crime and Pun-ishment Badge - Come up with 1/3/7 puns around another scout or leader.
  • Culinary Expert Badge - Completely eat 3/5/9 dishes that are not native to your region/reality, and tell a leader about them.
  • Demolition - Identify and remove any salvageable parts from the item you have chosen to demolish. The idea is to get as much useful stuff out of the junk as possible. Demonstrate how to wield a sledgehammer safely, either on remaining parts of your item, or to crush cans for recycling. If you have not completed your Fire Safety Badge demonstrate how to safely light a fire and what materials it is safe to burn. Otherwise burn any non-salvageable suitable parts of your item. Demonstrate to a leader how to set off fireworks safely from a safe distance.
  • Exogatronomy Badge - Cook 1/3/7 dishes from another world. (giga ant egg smoothie)
  • Engineer - Bicycle Badge - Learn how to maintain a bicycle. Know how to ride a bicycle. Restore a bicycle that is not working. Your bicycle must be able to withstand a ride around the lake.
  • Engineer - Motorcycle - Learn how to maintain a motorcycle. Know/learn how to ride a motorcycle. Restore a motorbike that is not working. You may ask for help with this task. Your motorbike must be checked by a qualified individual before riding. Your bike must be capable of doing a lap safely around the lake.
  • Engineer - Car - Learn how to maintain a car. Know/learn how to drive a car. Restore a car that is not working. You may ask for help with this task. Your car must be checked by a qualified individual before riding. Your car must be capable of doing a lap safely around the lake.
  • Exosociology Badge - Learn about the history/culture of 1/3/5 other worlds. Give a brief presentation to a leader to prove what you've learned.
  • Entrepeneur Badge Level 1 - Come up with a business plan using a starting capital of £10/$20. You may use any skill that complies with the rules of the bar and the rules of the scouts (i.e. not harmful, don't harass people). You may also do this in conjunction with another badge e.g. Engineer or Woodcraft. Give your business a name! Present your business plan to a leader. Providing your plan is safe and feasible you will then be able to borrow your starting capital from the petty cash tin in the Scout Hut. Make a profit equal to double that of the starting capital, and pay back your loan.
  • Entrepeneur Badge Level 2 - Complete level 1 and pay back your starting capital. Make 4x your starting capital in profit.
  • Entrepeneur Badge Level 3 - Complete Level 1 and 2. Start a second business plan or product line, which can be related to your first one. Use your previous profits as your starting capital. Have both activities running in profit. When both projects have doubled the starting capital used you get the badge on the right.
  • Greeter - Greet five new patrons. Explain what Milliways is, or give them the leaflet. Have a second conversation with one of the new people you met to see how they are settling in.
  • Fundraising - Pick a charity or cause - this can be an in-bar fund such as the fund for the Bound or for Minors, or an outside charity. If the charity is not from your own world please talk to someone from that world first. Run your idea past a leader. Raise money for that cause via a sponsored activity, making and selling items, or doing a simple service e.g. car washing.
  • Volunteering - Become a volunteer inside or outside the bar. This can either be a one day type thing or a few hours a week over at least a month. Tell a leader or present to other Scouts about your good cause.
  • Mentoring Badge - Inform a leader that you're planning to mentor another scout. Accompany your scout through the process of attaining three badges. Design a badge aimed for them.
  • Needlework - Knitting - Knit or crochet a small project, such as a scarf, and present it to a leader. Present Lucas' scarf to Bonnie
  • Needlework - Crochet - Learn how to make a slip knot and cast on and bind off. Learn the following stitches: chain, single crotchet, double crotchet, slip. Knit or crochet a small project, such as a scarf or several granny squares, and present it to a leader.
  • Needlework - Basic Sewing - Complete a small cross-stitch or embroidery project. Present Bonnie's handkerchief to Bonnie.
  • Om nom nom Badge - Serve a dish you cooked to 10 other people.
  • Power Tools - Demonstrate correct use of safety equipment required to operate power tools. Learn and demonstrate correct use of a drill, sander, jigsaw and nail gun. We do not want you to use a circular saw unattended, but please demonstrate how you would set it up.
  • Hand Tools - Demonstrate correct use of a hand saw, a hand drill, a screwdriver, a hammer, a plane, sandpaper and a chisel. Complete an Engineer or Woodwork badge using at least two of the above tools.
  • Quilting - Know how to sew patchwork pieces by hand or with a sewing machine, and how to quilt fabric with a layer of padding. Complete one of the following projects - a quilt at least one metre in diameter, a quilted or patchwork cushion cover, a quilted or patchwork bag, or similar and show it to a leader.
  • Safety - First Aid - Know how to access the Milliways Infirmary Team in an emergency. Demonstrate to a medic: Assessing an unconscious person, CPR on a manikin, How to handle choking, The Recovery Position, Treating heavy bleeding. Explain to a medic what you would do initially for someone with: Burns, Bites/stings, Sprained ankles, Broken/suspected broken bones.
  • Safety - Risk Assessment - Demonstrate that you know where the safety equipment is kept. Demonstrate how to select and put on a correct size helmet, climbing harness and buoyancy aid. The leader assessing you will give you two different scenarios. Talk through the required safety equipment required to do each activity.
  • Safety - Fire - Explain the three components required to make a fire. With a leader, demonstrate how to light a small cooking fire (under 1m diameter) safely. Demonstrate how to extinguish said fire when you are finished cooking. Explain to a leader the types of fire extinguisher and what they can be used on. Demonstrate how to use a fire extinguisher if you did not use it in clause 3.
  • Stealth Badge - Sneak up on 1/3/5 leaders.
  • Tour Guide Badge - Take 1/3/5 people back to your world.
  • Virtuoso Badge - Demonstrate proficiency with 1/2/3 musical instruments, which can be your voice. Play three pieces for each.
  • Worldhopper Badge - Visit at least 1/2/5 other worlds or universes.
  • XKCD Badge Fill a room with Ballpit Balls. Spin around without getting dizzy. Keep a journal or Blog (you don't have to show anyone).
  • Allergy Awareness - Learn which common foods contain milk, egg, nuts and gluten (cakes, wheat, flour, pasta, bagels all contain gluten).
  • Allergy to Birds - Know how to handle your own allergies. Make a cake or biscuits without using egg. Make/Help make a chicken coop. Be able to identify at least five types of bird (bluebird, robin, Indian roper, sparrows, albatrosses)
